Paws 4 thought dog training website
This website uses very modern themes such as soft gradient colours in the header, showing clouds.
The site is very spacious despite containing large bodies of text. The text is justified to maintain a neat appearance.
The logo was also created as part of this project and goes with a set of stationary and letterheads. The business card can just about be seen in a small image on the Paws 4 thought about page. This was added as a small 'Easter Egg' that was not meant to be glaringly obvious.
Client website - created: 2006
This design was also built to fit around an existing logo and colour scheme.
The design is very open and clean, and uses contemporary web styles which use gradients, rounded corners and space for the design to breathe.
Client website - created: 2006
This design was created for a client who had a logo and a colour scheme, but needed an contemporary website.
The colour scheme was already present, and the logo was nice to work with as it was quite unusual. The three figures featured in the logo were placed at point in the design to subtly enforce the branding.
Client website design 2 - created: 2006
This is the second of the two websites that were created where the requirement was for the website to look completely different from any other website in the financial sector.
This website also uses an image that was modified so that it would stretch all the way across the screen, in this case the black band is the repeating motif.
The frog was chosen at random, but allows the rest of the site to flow around the design comfortably.
Client website design 1- created: 2006
This is one of two websites that was created where the requirement was for the website to look completely different from any other website in the financial sector.
I wanted to look for an image that could pan from the left to right as far as screen resolutions would permit.
This website was created in my career environment, and to date, has been the website where I have been granted the most creative flexibility.
RFU Recordingz - created: 2006
This website was created for a record label who promote underground music. They requested a fresh feel to the site, whilst remaining professional. The final feel and look of the site is very smooth and usebility was an importnant issue for the site owners.
The Logo was previously created by me a year before the website was created.
The icons used in the navigation were all created by me as the site owner did not want to use stock logos that anyone else could use or buy.
You can take a look at the fully working website by clicking this link, although it is hosted on my servers as the website was not yet live at the time of writing this so you will see lots of dummy content.
ok Mortgages - created: 2005
Several designs have been created for this project and this one was chosen. The other suggested designs for this project can be seen on this page.
The single chair in the header of the page represents the fact the brokers are independent. This template is designed to replace an existing site. This initial site was just to build a web presence, but the company would like the site to do a little more for itself by generating more interest for the company. The existing content was evaluated and I amended the content and made the site search engine optimised. The previous site was created using a flash template meaning the only thing the site would be searched on would have been the domain name. This meant the content was not submitted to the search engines making the site extremely low in the search results.
PC Disinfection - created: 2004
PC Disinfection is a website I created for a personal project. The content of the site is related to a previous career which was providing technical support for an Internet Security Pack. I found my self explaining the main functions of Anti Virus software and Firewalls along with other general security issues that may affect a computer. As well as explaining security software I thought it may help my efforts to place some content on-line available for people to read at their own leisure. As the site developed I included more and more content and decided to make a complete security site with problem definitions and fixes that I was aware of.
The current design of the website is very basic with two main text sections per page. The left main panel for large volumes of text, and the smaller context sensitive panels on the right. These smaller panels contain any relative information that does not really fit into the main content panel.
This is the first web site I built using pure XHTML and CSS and is validated to W3 standards. There is no Macromedia Flash design implemented into the site and very little else other than pure text coded in XHTML. The sites visitors are most likely to be new users who may not be too computer literate. For this reason there are 'print' options at the bottom of every section along with 'return to top' buttons and quick links to 'hot' pages of the site such as the 'panic button' (a page with printable instructions for anyone is attacked by a virus or hacking attempt).
As the majority of users who visit PC Disinfection may be new to computing I have explained on the site that there are two types of links. The standard hyper link, and a definition link. Hyperlinks are in blue and stand out on the page as do standard links, whereas the definition links are more subtle but easy to see if you are reading through the text. When the visitor clicks on the definition link, a small javascript pop-up window appears with information regarding the word that was clicked. The pop-up window is stand alone and can be closed with no interference with the digestion of the content on the website.
The content on the website is laid out in a progressive format so that the customer can read as little or as much as they wish. The first section of the page (the Firewall section is the best example) is a brief overview. The second involves more detail and technical knowledge, and the third section is very technical. Probably useless to the average user, but the information is there if it is required.
